1- What is Kalasms about?

Kalasms is an SMS portal for both personal and business use.
The user can send messages using his mobile application or on the webpage, for a very low price, to another person (P2P- Person to Person), or group(s) of persons.
The user can choose to send from the "mobile number" he/she identified at registration, or from a nickname of choice.
The user can use Kalasms for sending BULK SMS. An indefinite number of groups can be created on the web, by uploading the contacts in an excel file and giving them a "group name".
The user can then send an SMS to one or more groups.
This is useful for business marketing campaigns, government agencies public campaigns, community news, clubs and special interest invitations for general meetings, or for communicating with your employees.
Both personal and BULK messaging can be performed by the user from either web page or the mobile JAVA application. Kalasms is a web account centric service. Your account settings, credits, groups, are all stored on the website of Kalasms in your account area. The mobile application will get all account information from the web.

2- What added value does Kalasms have for me?

As a Kalasms user, you can do the following:
* Send very cheap messages to other mobiles ( at 2ec a message, and 1.75 ec for traders)
* Send BULK SMS from your mobile, to thousands of recipients in one click! You can then send messages to thousands of recipients while on the move!
* Messages will be received on the recipients screens from either your mobile number, or from a Nickname of your choice!
* You can transfer credits to any other Kalasms user, with one click from your mobile application or the website. * You can change your Nickname!
* You can add contacts to BULK SMS groups, from your phone contacts!
* You can write your messages in any language!
No other mobile messaging application offers the features that you will be enjoying as a Kalasms user.

3- How can I register?

You can register by pressing on "Register Now" button in the bottom of the home page. You will be then redirected to the registration page where you are prompted to submit your Name, mobile number (on which you will receive the registration secret code), nickname (the senderID could be either your mobile number or nickname), your password, and your e-mail. You will then receive a secret code on your mobile, which will be used to continue your registration and get 10 free SMS to try the service.

4- Do I need internet connection on my mobile?

YES, you need internet connection in order to communicate with KalaSms service on the internet.

5- How much KalaSms consumes of my internet connection?

Kalasms uses a compression protocol to minimize the internet connection consumption. All transactions consume less than 300 bytes each ( i.e. 100Kbytes gives you more than 330 transactions!) Even better.... When you send BULK SMS from your mobile, you will be able to send thousands of messages in one single transaction. This is even quicker than sending them directly from your mobile handset standard SMS.

6- Is the content I am sending from the mobile secure enough?

YES. Kalasms uses an encryption algorithm that offers the highest level of security for your content. Nobody can reveal the content of your messages, except from you and the recipients.

7- How can I get qualified as a "trader"?

A trader will get the basic price of 1.75 ec per unit. To be qualified, you need t purchase a minimum of 10,000 units (that is 175 euro). You can then use your mobile application to transfer credit to other users and make money!

8- What is the SenderID?

The SenderID is the number or alphanumeric string that will appear on the recipient's screen in the "from" textbox of the message. The maximum number of characters that a SenderID can be composed of is 11 characters, and cannot contain some special characters (like SPACE). Once you are a registered user, you can select with which DEFAULT senderID you want to send your message(s), by going to "change account information" in the main user menu after you login, or in the "settings" menu under the main menu of the mobile application, then select "Set Default SenderID" and toggle between the nickname or mobile number by pressing "change").
The senderid can be set by default to use the one of following two types:
* Mobile number: your "real" mobile number that you have registered with
* Nickname: the Nickname that you chose at registration. Note that you can change your Nickname.

9- Can I change my Nickname?

The Nickname will be set at registration. However, you can change the nickname every time you recharge your account. You can either change the nickname from the website, or from the mobile application.

Kalasms Website:
In the "change account information" page, you will be allowed to set a new nickname, if you haven't done so since the last recharge. Otherwise, the nickname textbox will be dimmed, and you will not be allowed to change it.

Kalasms mobile application:
Go to "settings" on the main menu and select "Change Nickname".

10- How can I recharge my account?

Once you are registered, you can login and go to "recharge" tab in the user's homepage, and enter the number of units you want to purchase. The total amount will be displayed and you can go to payment on Paypal website for payment, after which your account will be recharged automatically. You can recharge your account from the website only. Recharging from the mobile application is not allowed for security reasons.

11- What is the price of a message?

Each destination has a different price.
Most of the destination networks around the world will cost you 1 unit per message, while some others will cost more than that.

12- Can I send messages in any language?

YES. You can send messages in Latin based languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, etc...) or non-Latin "Unicode" based languages (Arabic, Chinese, Indonesian, Hebrew, Vietnamese, Urdu, etc...)

13- Can I send to all networks in the world?

We cover more than 400 networks worldwide. If you do not receive a "passcode" message at registration, then your network is not covered. We appreciate it if you can send us an e- mail to cover your network.

14- How can I create groups of contacts?

You can create groups from either the website or the mobile application.

From Website:
* Go to "Web" tab in the main user menu.
* Click on "click here" to edit your groups
* Type the new group name and press "Add"
* Upload an EXCEL or TXT file containing your mobile number contacts, in international format (with no leading zeros)
* You can also type additional numbers in the text box and press "Add"

From mobile application:
* Select "Groups" from the main menu (you will be directed to another screen listing the groups you already created before)
* Select "Refresh" to get the groups list from your account on the web.
* Select "Create Group" from the menu
* Type the name of the group

15- Do I need to install a special application on my PC?

NO. All your contacts will be stored in your account on the web. You can do the operations from either your web account or the mobile application. You do not need to store or keep any information on your PC.

16- What is credit transfer

You can transfer credit to any other Kalasms user, by simply submitting the number of units you want to transfer, together with the user's mobile number (in international format, no leading zeros).
To be able to transfer credits, you need to have at least 50 units in your account .
You can transfer as many units you like (minimum of 30 units), to as many users, provided your account will not go below 50 units. You can transfer credits from both the website and the mobile application!
If you transfer more than 200 credits, the recepient will be able to change his nickname.
Note that loose 1 credit per transfer.  

17- How can I upload my phone contacts to a "group"?

* Select "Groups" from the main menu of the mobile application
* Select the group that you want to add the contact to, from the list of groups
* Select "Add contact to group" from the menu
Make sure the phone contact is in international format; if not, you can change it manually at the time of uploading the contact.

18- Can I see a delivery report of my sent messages?

YES. You can check the status of the messages you sent, from either the website or your mobile application.

19- Where should I download the mobile application from?

Go to www.kalasms.com/mobile and download the mobile application to your handset.
